Anything goes with a twist: Heritage

Hello Everyone!

Time for a new challenge and this time the twist is 'Heritage'.

In South Africa where I live, we celebrate Heritage Day on the 24th of September.
South Africa is a country with many diverse cultures and this day is a way of celebrating our own heritage, but also creating new ways of living in harmony with all the other people in our beautiful country.

Your project can celebrate your own heritage, your own special memories or something fun about your country. Use the colours of your country, if you get stuck on this one. We hope to see a variety of projects and I really hope we'll see some layouts!

Our generous sponsor Digistamps4Joy is giving 5 images (own choice) to the winner of the challenge!

The Guest Designer from the DT of our sponsor this week is the multi-talented Jen Leeflang:

Jen lives in Durban, South Africa. She finally ignored the advice of a school's career counsellor who 'wisely' told her there was "no career in art". Years later, her artistic and creative skills have resulted in a business which keeps her extremely busy and feeds her artistic soul!  From papercrafts, painting, and drawing, to needlecrafts where she designs, makes and beads belly dance show costumes, she is able to do amazing things with paper, card, fabrics, beads, sequins and crystals.
Her cards and belly dance costumes are widely sought after, with customers in South Africa, USA, Canada, England, and Australia. They are made to last and the designs are equal, (if not superior) to cards and costumes bought overseas. In addition to paper and needlecrafts, Jen is a highly competent functions and events organiser, undertaking tasks from fabric draping for the event, to creating beautiful, hand-made cards and invitations for customers worldwide. Jen is married to Pete and they have 3 sons, Nicholas, Blayne and Kellan.

Now onto the wonderful inspiration pieces from the designers using Digistamps4Joy images:

A little bit more about our sponsor:

Digistamps4Joy
South African crafters are new to the digital stamping world, with the first South African online digital image store launched in 2010 – Digistamps4Joy (or DS4J) http://www.digistamps4joy.co.za/eshop .  In May 2012, Margy Kieser took over ownership of DS4J, and there are now two South African artists who contribute to the more than 600 images available. Margy has taken the store to new heights and the store now stocks digis that are cute, whimsical, artistic, sometimes serious, and sometimes humorous. In addition, one of our own South African rubber stamp companies granted us permission for one range of rubber stamps to be converted into digistamp images. The store has PAYPAL, PAYFAST (South African) and EFT (South African) facilities.  Digistamps4Joy offers a monthly freebie on the first Friday of every month, and holds regular bi-weekly card challenges on our Blog (http://digistamps4joy-sa.blogspot.com ) that draw entries from many international card makers.

We (DS4J) are also active on Facebook (http://www.facebook.com/DS4Joyand Paper Craft Planet (http://www.papercraftplanet.com/group/digistamps4joy). We’d love it if you joined us!

Now it is your turn to come up with lovely creation! Remember, your creation must reflect the theme! It can be something reflecting your own heritage, that of your country or just a special moment you are sharing - the birth of new grandchild, a new house or a special birthday. Once you are done, make sure to link up your blogpost here!  You'll have until September 24 to add your project and if you don't have your own blog, you can add your project to our flickr group by clicking the link in the left sidebar.
I'm so excited to see what you are going to make!

Hugs

Rene
